What's playing

I hope Grey's Anatomy never ends because I love it so much, love the quotes, the life lessons and everything about it. I'm so glad that I convinced him to watch it and great minds think alike because he's been hooked on it ever since :P

The last episode that showed was so sad. I was trying hard not to tear and the music was incredible. It was the first time that they did a musical out of it with the cast singing and damn can most of them sing. Callie and Lexi can really sing! Tried to find a few songs that I really liked but some were not listed. I did find this one though - The Story by Brandi Carlile. Lovely.

The two of us don't watch TV. When I say TV, I'm referring to the local television shows so don't ask us about the local stars etc because we just don't follow the scene. We watch a lot of tv dramas from the States like GA, Heroes, Big Bang Theory and have recently started on Glee.

Now when I first watched Glee, I didn't get it. Sure, I love musicals and the singing was great but I just couldn't relate to it. I kept on watching a few more and then it just clicked. And now, we are hooked.

"My body is like a warm chocolate souffle. If I don't warm up right, it won't rise.

Bwahhahahaha.

What other tv dramas are you hooked on?

For Japan - Otoko to Onna

Otoko To Onna

Click here if the above doesn't work.

Otoko to Onna cover by Jack and Rai, originally by Chage and Aska

My favorite local band, Jack and Rai did an excellent cover of Chage and Aska's Otoko to Onna on acoustic as a tribute to Japan for the recent tragedy. They are encouraging everyone to contribute in anyway possible to help the victims.

In their own words -

"A little effort goes a long way. Japan has always been close to our hearts, whether its the music, food or culture. We hope that you can contribute, in any little way u can, to help the victims of the quake. The song below, is an old Chage and Aska number, one of our faves, which we re-recorded acoustic. Any help u can give, whether thru World Vision or any other relief efforts are appreciated."

The song is beautiful, didn't know Rai's command of Japanese was that good :P Thought it'll be nice to share it here and help spread the word. Rai sent the MP3 file to me and has given permission for me to share it here.

Runnaholic playlist

Since I just emailed this to a friend, I thought I'll share it here as well. This is my current running playlist. Yes, I do have slow music in it too because I do enjoy listening to slower music especially when I'm just warming up. Those highlighted in red are my favorites.

Enjoy.

P.S I deliberately uploaded larger sized images so that you can view it better!

New addictions

Currently looping on my playlist -

Don't Matter - Akon
David Guetta - Memories
One Republic - Secrets
Bruno Mars - Just the Way You Are
Deastro - The Shaded Forests
DJ Khaled ft Ludacris, Rick Ross, Pain and Snoop Dogg

Yea. Bobbing along to these hits.

Also, the SoundHound app is a great alternative to Shazam which the free version has a limited number of monthly tags. If you download SoundHound now, you get unlimited tags and it shows the lyrics whenever you tag a song. Sweeet.

Local singers

I'm a big fan of local talents. As in the ones that can really sing and not necessarily a product of the Idols :P I love local clothes brands that are unexpected - current favorites are Alldressedup, Womb, M:)phosis, Yu etc and as for local singers, I'm a huge fan of Corinne May and Stefanie Sun.

I chanced upon this new local singer called Tay Kewei. I love her sultry vocals and the fact that she writes some of her songs. She found fame through posting her song videos and original compositions on Youtube and just released her solo album this month. Check out the video "Please be careful with my heart" - amazing when the Filipino male singer sings in Mandarin! OMG. More of her songs, 'raw', can be found on Youtube here.

And yes. A big surprise to all, that I do listen to Mandarin songs :) I may not understand what the songs are about, but I love the tunes of Cantonese and Mandarin songs. Hence, the mention previously, that my taste in music is extremely varied.

Smile

Smile by Uncle Kracker

There are so many things to do on a weekend. We have been busy running errands but it's been a pretty swell weekend so far. Searching for new music is one of the things that we enjoy doing. Just got a couple new ones :) This is for you baby :)

Because you always make me smile. And laugh.

Yesterday.. after our 18 miler.
The alarm rings.

A: We should get up. It's been an hour. I couldn't sleep anyway.
B.T: *grunts Mm..okay.
A few minutes passes and he doesn't hear from me. He turns around and catches me sleeping.
B.T: So I guess you are just testing to see if your eyes don't leak huh?
A: Idiot.

You're better then the best
I´m lucky just to linger in your life
Cooler then the flip side of my pillow that´s right
Completely unaware
Nothing can compare to where you send me
Lets me know that it´s ok yeah it´s ok
And the moments when my good times start to fade

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed
Sing like a bird
Dizzy in my head
Spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
Buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile

Even when you´re gone
Somehow you come along
Just like a flower poking through the sidewalk crack and just like that
You steal away the rain and just like that

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of
bed sing like bird
Dizzy in my head spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile

Don´t know how I lived without you
Cuz everytime that I get around you
I see the best of me inside your eyes
You make me smile
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild

You make me smile like the sun
Fall out of bed
sing like bird
Dizzy in my head
spin like a record
Crazy on a Sunday night
You make me dance like a fool
Forget how to breathe
Shine like gold
buzz like a bee
Just the thought of you can drive me wild
Ohh you make me smile
Ohh you make me smile
Ohh you make me smile

Oopsie Daisy

by the Chipmunk

He shazam-ed this song last night. I know it sounds kinda teeny-booper and I think it even sounds slightly 'Christmasy', but I like the tune of it. Both of us have very strange preference in music. It's varied and random :P That was actually what initially got me interested in him :P

UPDATED
P.S Just found out that Jahmaal Noel Fyffe, who is the British-born rapper of this song is only 19 but has won the Best UK Newcomer at the MOBO Awards in 2008 and the Best Hip-Hop Act at the MOBO Awards the following year - beating fellow stars Jay-Z, Kanye West and Eminem! He's supposedly the next big thing to watch out for.

Terry Fox Run

Your power song

When I do run with music, my power song is Hed Kandi's Empty Streets. It's a great starting song and sometimes I put it on repeat for abit.

What is your power song? Do share!

Also, I love running with either my Nano or iShuffle the only downside is that the wire from the earphones get in the way. Do you get this issue and if yes, what is your solution?

Videos and music

I just finished work. It's quite late but it's okay. It's the standard seasonal meetings. Anyway, the morning run today needed some motivation so I decided to run with some music. My power song was Hed Kandi's Empty Streets. Or rather, it has been my power song for quite awhile now :) Decided to share it below with two more other videos. Call it a short way of de-stressing after a long work day.

Hed Kandi's Empty Streets

I love this song so much. It gets me pumped up and going. If I run with music for the upcoming marathon, this will be my starting song :) Or maybe, I'll just play it when I need the extra boost.

Lady Antebellum's Need You Now

My current favorite song on perpetual repeat.

B.T and I share the same taste in music. We love a wide genre of music but somehow or other, we land up loving the same songs. He sent this song to me. He said that he knew that I would like it and it was for me. It made me cry.

Nike's latest ad - Write the Future

Nike's latest ad that was launched a week ago, rawks. Within a week, it has 8million over views for the main video and with many others' posting the videos with similarly high viewership. It's been described as 'epic' by my friends on Facebook and I have to agree.

I think Pat aptly describes this latest campaign. Most are probably familiar on who Pat is :) She's one of the few bloggers out there that doesn't review a product or brand just for the sake of it. She won't do it if she doesn't believe in the product even if you paid her a lot for it. It's her integrity and I really respect her for it. Reading her write-up on it, I'm really happy because it's a good testimonial. So I am posting it here just in case you have yet to watch it :)
