The National Cathedral

At the entrance

The National Cathedral was the other house of worship that I wanted to visit. The official name of the cathedral is the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul. It is the sixth largest cathedral in the world and the second largest in the U.S. The architecture and design of the cathedral is gothic and the first stone was laid in 1907.

There is a long history of this cathedral which I can't recall all of it now but I took the in-house tour which was excellent. You will learn facts about the cathedral for example it is a protestant episcopal church and welcomes all denominations. It is said that even Jewish services are held inside the cathedral at times! If you are a fan of architecture, you will learn about the structure, every stone and concrete that was built and other facts like every item in the cathedral is donated.

I won't bore everyone with my lack of knowledge on the cathedral but hope you'll enjoy the photos that I took to share :)
