NB Aquathlon race to the end

Marathon training and a busy week

I have been rather shabby on my updates but excuse me because I have been trying to kick my jetlag with training and work has been hectic!

I'm over my jetlag - someone told me that the best way to get over it is to exercise! Indeed! Marathon training has started *gulp. 16 weeks of torture to come!

I had to skip the Monday workout since I was airbound but I've been pushing myself to complete the rest despite the jetlag.

Tuesday - track workout. 15minutes warmup, 3x1600m, 1min RI, 10minutes cooldown. I was able to complete it at my desired pace. B.T hammered his so he will need to re-adjust his pace!

Wednesday - Insanity Plyo circuit training.

I slept extremely well for the past two nights!

Meanwhile, I just received another sweet email from a reader - you guys are so nice! You make my day. Please keep them coming in. :) xoxo

Malls listing

Since my friend asked me for places to shop at in Portland, I decided to do this short post for future references and for everyone here!

As mentioned before, Portland is one of the best places to shop at as it is TAX FREE. Yes. Everything that you purchase including electronics is tax free. This means that if you purchased an iPad for say USD899, you would save about 8% which is the typical tax charged in other cities in the States. That amounts to about USD$70 which is good savings!

The fashion style in Portland might not be the best compared to NYC, LA etc, but you save a lot and I usually end up buying stuff like vitamins, toiletries etc. I'll talk about that in another post!

Meanwhile, this site lists most of the shopping places in Portland or around Portland.

Pioneer Place - right in the heart of downtown Portland and near most of the hotels, it houses brands like Victoria Secrets, Forever 21, Apple store, Aldo, Nine West, Kate Spade, Juicy Couture, Gap, Bath & Bodyworks and H&M will be opening here this Fall! I can't wait!!! Finally!! The selection here at Forever 21 for example, is more trendy than the Forever 21 at Washington Square.

Washington Square - we usually pop in here because it is next to our favorite supermarket i.e. Target, it has more or less the same brands as Pioneer Place. It also has the only Sephora in the whole of Portland here and other brands like Oakley, Dicks Sporting Goods which is the biggest and best multi-brand store in Portland and I think the U.S. It also has Aeropostale, Macy's, Pottery Barn + Kids.

Woodburn - I've mentioned about this before. It's the outlet mall and great if you want to get good deals for Coach, Converse, Nine West, Cole Hann, Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph. It's a 45 minutes drive away from downtown Portland.

Brideport - I love this place because it has a nice open space layout. It has Urban Outfitters, Origins, Borders, Crate and Barrel, Anthropologie and more.

Cedar Hills - not listed in the above link but it has Old Navy and couple other brands.

So if anyone visits Portland, I would suggest that you go with a fairly empty luggage and bring a LARGE empty duffel! If anyone heads up there, just drop me a note for more suggestions!

On my next trip, I would like to check out the vintage shops at Hawthorne, so hopefully, I will be able to share more on that then :)

Next up, I will share on some new eating places that I checked out and a hiking trip that I did over the weekend!
